Facilitation is a delicate dance between providing structure and allowing for flexibility. By controlling what you can control, you create a safe space for discussion and the exploration of ideas among participants.

Structure serves as a foundation, providing safety and an orientation point. When the discussion veers off track, you can seamlessly steer it back on course by referring to your established structure, ensuring you and the group remain aligned.

Your facilitative anchors are the tools you can control to achieve this balance. These anchors often include:

* Time management
* Venue selection
* Room layout and conditions
* Seating arrangements
* Clear expectations and guidelines
* A well-defined agenda
* A controlled pace and rhythm
* Timely interventions and prompts
* A positive and focused mindset
* Thorough preparation

While this list is not exhaustive, intentionally focusing on even a few of these anchors will significantly enhance your facilitative skills and contribute to a successful experience. The more control you exert over these aspects, the smoother the facilitation process will be.
